During our stay in Palermo we've been invited to Aliou’s house for dinner. In the course of Ramadan -this year began in mid-April- fasting lasts all day: no food, no water, no cigarettes.
We were explained the value of an invitation in someone’s home, in the Gambia's culture. We were told the importance of breaking the fast, the difficulty in reopening the stomach, the value of doing it in company, to support each other.
We were told about Bay fall: its history and what it means. Finally, Souleymane told it through the eyes of Aliou.
Needless to say, we liked it (a lot).
Thank you for sharing with us.
